Community Guidelines (Code of Conduct)
Purpose
We’re here to help teachers and academics connect, share workable ideas, and improve learning outcomes. These guidelines keep UQSchoolsNet Home Base respectful, safe and useful.
Respect & professionalism
- Be courteous. Disagree with ideas, not people.
- Use inclusive, plain language. Avoid jargon or acronyms without explaining.
- No harassment, discrimination, defamation, or inflammatory content.
Privacy & confidentiality
- Do not share identifiable student data, personal contact details, or sensitive school information.
- De identify all examples where possible (use initials or composites).
- Respect the privacy settings of shared files and links.
Safety & safeguarding
- No student contact occurs in UQSchoolsNet Home Base. This space is for adults only.
- Do not upload images or media of students.
- Report concerns to moderators immediately.
Content quality
- Share evidence informed practice, sources and attributions.
- Mark opinions as opinions. Cite when you can.
- If you share copyrighted materials, ensure you have permission or provide links rather than uploads.
No promotions
- Avoid advertising products, paid services or events unless pre approved by moderators and clearly relevant to education.
Academic engagement
- Academics should keep content accessible to non specialists.
- Where possible, include classroom implications and quick start tips.
Accessibility
- Provide alt text or brief descriptions for images.
- Use descriptive titles for files.
- Prefer formats readable across devices.
Citations & AI use
- Disclose if content is AI assisted.
- Check accuracy and correct errors promptly.
Recording & attribution
- Ask before recording meetings.
- Credit contributors when adapting shared materials.
Moderation
- Moderators may remove posts or files that breach guidelines, move off topic threads, or request edits for clarity/safety.
- Repeated breaches may lead to muting or removal from the Team.
Escalation
- Report issues via email schoolsnet@uq.edu.au. Serious matters may be escalated to UQ policies.
