Sharon Singh,
Sharon Singh is Head of eLearning and Innovation at St John’s Anglican College and a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society (ACS). With more than 30 years of experience across Information Systems, Computer Science and IT, Sharon brings extensive expertise in educational technology, curriculum design and emerging technologies. Her experience spans the IB, North American AP, Cambridge IGCSE and Australian Curriculum frameworks, and she contributes to organisations including IFIP, ACS, QSITE, QUT, QLDSNET and CSIRO. Her work has been recognised through a Peter Doherty STEM Education Award, an ACS Gold Disruptor Award and a QLD TEACHX Finalist award.
In her presentation, Making the Machine Visible: Stewarding Critical AI Engagement in a P–12 School, part of the AI in Action Speaker Series, Sharon will explore the practical, ethical and creative ways AI is shaping education. Drawing on real P–12 classroom and governance experience, she will provide teachers and school leaders with a balanced perspective on the opportunities AI offers for engagement, creativity and innovation, while also examining challenges including academic integrity, over-reliance on technology and AI’s often-hidden environmental costs. Across the session, Sharon will move from framing these tensions to practical examples and ethical considerations, before exploring the structures schools can use to support thoughtful, responsible and sustainable engagement with AI.
