Aerospace engineers are tasked with, among other things, the design of rockets to deliver a payload and return it safely to the ground.

Teachers will work together in groups to design, construct and launch a solid fuel model rocket.

The workshop teaches concepts such as analysing and balancing forces, aerodynamics, differential equations and decision-making.

An extended session (2.5hrs) will have teachers and students also calculating the predicted height of their rocket before launch.

About Group workshops

Experience UQ for yourself, or let us bring the UQ experience to you with our hands-on group workshops led in partnership with AUSCERT and UQ's School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Our engineering, architecture and ICT workshops are tailored for Year 8-10 students. Advanced workshops can be designed for Year 11-12 students upon request.
