Our purpose
Home Base is a community hosted by UQ where educators connect, share practical ideas and resources, and learn from each other. These guidelines help keep it welcoming, respectful and useful.
Respect each other
- Be courteous and constructive. Disagree with ideas, not people.
- Welcome different experiences, perspectives and questions.
- Use clear, inclusive language. Harassment, discrimination and personal attacks are not acceptable.
Share and contribute
- Questions, everyday experiences and ideas still in development are welcome.
- Make clear when you are sharing personal experience or opinion. Include sources when referring to research.
- Credit contributors and only upload resources you have permission to share. Otherwise, link to the original source.
Protect privacy
- Do not share information that could identify students, families or others, or confidential school information. Initials alone may not protect someone’s identity.
- Do not upload student images, audio or video. This community is for adults; student participation or contact is not permitted.
- Get permission before sharing another member’s posts, resources or contact details outside the community.
Connecting with UQ
- You’re welcome to ask questions for UQ or its academics. Moderators can help point you towards relevant contacts or resources.
- Academics may contribute when available; a direct response cannot be guaranteed.
- Members share their own views unless clearly speaking on behalf of their organisation.
Events and promotions
- UQ and moderators may share relevant events, webinars, professional learning and school–university opportunities.
- Seek moderator approval before advertising products, paid services or events. Disclose any commercial interest.
- Do not send unsolicited sales or promotional messages to members.
Keep content accessible and accurate
- Use clear file names, descriptive links and brief image descriptions.
- Clearly label AI-generated or substantially AI-assisted contributions, check accuracy and correct errors promptly.
- Do not put confidential information or other members’ content into AI tools without appropriate permission.
Meetings and recordings
- Obtain participants’ permission before recording, transcribing or using an AI meeting assistant.
- Agree on how recordings or transcripts may be shared.
Moderation and concerns
- Moderators may request edits, redirect discussions or remove content that breaches these guidelines.
- Serious or repeated breaches may result in removal from the community. Serious concerns may be referred through relevant UQ processes.
- Report concerns privately to schoolsnet@uq.edu.au.
You don’t need a polished resource or a perfect answer to take part. Ask, share and help each other.
